A Cinematic Glimpse into the Past – Reconstructed with Generative AI
This is the first visual reconstruction of its kind in Poland – and one of the first in the world.
But before we ran a single AI model, we started somewhere else entirely. With history. And not the dry, academic kind — but an investigative journey that felt more like solving a mystery than studying old records. Clue by clue. Fragment by fragment. Each piece of information led to the next — through engravings, descriptions, symbols, and hidden meanings. With the help of historians and researchers, we set out to recreate something that no longer exists. To assemble an image from the dust of history. We combined traditional scholarship with cutting-edge generative technologies.
Then, we transformed it into something visual — emotional, cinematic, and moving.
We didn’t want to make a conventional historical reconstruction.
We wanted more — a film that would resonate through its atmosphere, craft, and emotional depth. A meeting with history that doesn’t feel like a lesson, but an experience.
The result? A cinematic spot that brings to life the royal insignia of Bolesław the Brave — the first King of Poland — before they disappeared forever. Created with the latest generative AI technologies: from research-based generation and motion design to light, narrative, and rhythm. This is one of the world’s first GenAI-powered historical films — and I’m incredibly proud it was made right here in Poland.
The project was created under the CREAIT.ME studio — our creative lab for generative AI production — in collaboration with Krzysztof Piła. Huge thanks to Paulina Surman, Olga Gałek, Agata Meus, and Dawid Gleń.
This film proves one thing:
Polish history doesn’t have to be boring. It can be cinematic. It can be beautiful. It can move you.
And GenAI? It’s not just a tool of the future — it’s a bridge to the past.
